• The immediate past Episcopal bishop of this area is a working bishop again. Steve Jecko, who retired three years ago as head of the Diocese of Florida, has accepted the post of assistant bishop in Dallas.

• It’s definitely baseball season around the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville with the ACC tournament starting today but football is never far from southern college fans’ minds and Clemson’s local alumni group is giving them their fix. The Clemson Club will host Tiger head football coach Tommy Bowden tonight at 6 p.m. at the Amsterdam Sky Cafe.
• The City Council’s Land Use & Zoning committee will be busy the next few meetings. Thirty-six new rezoning ordinances and resolutions were on the Council agenda. Attorney Shannon Scheffer of the Office of General Counsel will be busy, too. She was assigned to all of them.
• Jay Plotkin, the No. 2 man in the State Attorney’s office here, is the president-elect of the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville.
