This week’s Workspace comes from the office of Ron Salem, a Jacksonville native and political activist. He is the general manager for PharMerica, a pharmaceutical supplier that provides prescriptions to nursing homes, small hospitals and mental health facilities in Northeast Florida that do not have in-house pharmacies. Salem is an avid Florida Gators fan. He graduated from the University of Florida and received his doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
“I stayed in the SEC by teaching at Ole Miss,” Salem said. “But I realized the grad students were making more money than me.”
Salem then came back to Jacksonville. He worked for Shands Jacksonville and St. Vincent’s Health System before PharMerica. He also was on the faculty of the School of Pharmacy at UF and the University of Mississippi.
