In Wednesday’s story about the number of million-dollar homes in Duval County, we incorrectly stated that Ray Rodriguez of the Real Estate Strategy Center of North Florida, Inc. said there would be 500 homes sold for at least $1 million in Duval County during this calendar year. What he meant (and what the statistics he provided indicate) was that he expects 500 homes worth at least $1 million to be sold in the Metropolitan Statistical Area (Duval, Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties) by the end of the year.
• Neptune Beach Vice-Mayor Harriet Pruette is a little put out with Mayor John Peyton’s office these days. • Just before the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission got down to business Thursday morning, Mayor John Peyton dropped by to announce his latest goal for the revamped agency. Peyton said he plans to file a legislative J-Bill in Tallahassee that would create a new board within the JEDC with a specific downtown focus. Unlike the Downtown Development Authority, the new body would have an elevated authority and “not create another barrier of approval.” Details to come.
• More on the JEDC. City Council members Art Graham and Mia Jones have attended so many meetings there that they’ve earned a certain level of notoriety within the Commission. Board chair Ceree Harden introduced the pair as “perennial guests.”
