Last Friday marked the beginning of an ugly tradition at Coffman, Coleman, Andrews and Grogan. From this year forward, the Friday before Labor Day will be Ugly Shirt Contest Day at the firm.
Partners, associates, secretaries and staffers can all thank firm partner Patrick Coleman for starting the new tradition. Coleman said he decided to start Ugly Shirt Contest Day after making an ill-advised shirt purchase during a recent trip to France.
“When I took it out of the closet, my wife said ‘Don’t wear that shirt. That shirt is too ugly to wear,’” Coleman recalled.
Wearers of the top three ugliest shirts will each receive either a $5, $10 or $20 bottle of champagne with the cheapest bottle going to the first place winner.
