Richmond American Homes recently held a softball tournament at the Armstrong Park in Clay County, with all proceeds to benefit the American Heart Association Heart Walk Fund raiser.
Departments of the home building company competed against each other in the tournament for a day of mingling, food and charity. Many employees, family members and spectators attended the event last Friday raising nearly $1,000 within the first three hours.
Richmond American Homes has been a sponsor of the Heart Walk event since 2002. The three-mile walk weaves through downtown Jacksonville and includes a one-mile walk for survivors of heart disease and stroke, Florida’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers, respectively. The 13th Annual First Coast Heart Walk will be September 10 at Metropolitan Park. The goal of this year’s event is to raise more than $1.2 million. “Richmond American Homes is committed to supporting charitable causes in the communities where we build, and we have long admired the important and dedicated work that the American Heart Association does to help prevent heart disease and stroke,” said Doug Moran, division president for Richmond American Homes.
