Over 600 people from various facets of the local legal profession packed the Hyatt last Monday to hear from former U.S. Sen. John Edwards.

The Law Day luncheon was also Jacksonville Bar Association President Alan Pickert’s last official meeting. Pickert will be succeeded by JBA President-elect Kelly Mathis.

In addition to Edwards, the meeting also featured the announcement of the Daily Record’s Lawyer of the Year and the winner of the Liberty Bell Award. Bailey Publishing President and Publisher Jim Bailey recognized Bob Spohrer of Spohrer Wilner Maxwell & Matthews as the Lawyer of the Year. Sarah Jones Fowler was presented the Liberty Bell Award for her for work as a non-lawyer in the legal community.
