Vaudeville-style performances highlighted the Beaches Broadway Bash at Atlantic Theatres Thursday to benefit the Beaches Boys & Girls Club’s renovation project.

The event was sponsored by WCI Communities, builder of master-planned communities since 1946. The company currently owns and controls more than 17,000 acres of developable land.

Debbie Verges, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, said partnering with WCI Communities was an important step in completing the renovation project.

“We are grateful for the help from WCI and all our supporters,” she said.

Because of the WCI’s support, BGCNF was able to keep all profits made from the $50 per person event, which was catered by Bonefish Grill and Roy’s of Jacksonville Beach.

Verges said there are many area organizations who continually support the club, including the Ponte Vedra and Oceanside Rotaries, the Exchange Club and Jacksonville Beach Kiwanis, as well as private groups and individuals.

“Everyone knows the money is going to this project. We’re excited to see support from civic groups. With WCI’s support, 100 percent (of ticket sales) is going to the project,” she said.

City Council member Art Graham has also pledged his support for the organization. He offered a matching gift if the club could raise $50,000.

The Beaches Boys & Girls Club serves 150 children throughout the year; more than 200 are served in the summer.
