A packed Crowne Plaza ballroom spent most of the lunch hour in applause last month as the Northeast Florida Builders Association and Jacksonville Homebuyer magazine gave out their second annual Good Neighbor Awards.
“We know that our industry is a leader in giving to others,” said NEFBA Executive Director and City Council Vice President Daniel Davis, “and this is a small way to recognize them. The charitable work by NEFBA members is immense.”
Davis and Jacksonville Homebuyer Publisher Penelope Geismar presented the awards to 25 area companies.
Honored were Beazer Homes, Brylen Homes, Centex Homes, CornerStone Homes, Davidson Companies, D.R. Horton, Drees Homes, Engle Homes Jacksonville and ICI Homes.
Also, KB Home Jacksonville, Lennar, Matovina & Company, Mattamy Homes, Mercedes Homes, Morrison Homes, Palencia and Providence Homes.
Also, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes, Standard Pacific Homes, Trident Realty, The Vintage Group, W.G. Pitts Company and Woodside Homes North Florida.
The luncheon drew over 200 and guests were treated to a big lunch and a well-scripted program that had everyone on their way in just over an hour despite the numerous awards.
Jacksonville City Council President Michael Corrigan was the speaker and lauded the building industry.
“I don’t know the first thing about construction,” he said, “but I certainly know about giving back to the community, and the people in this room have given so much.”
