• “The Art of the Resolution” is the theme for Downtown Vision Inc.’s next Art Walk. The Jan. 3 evening event is one of DVI’s monthly, self-guided tours of Downtown art and entertainment spots.

• ImprovJacksonville, the improvisational comedy group formerly based at the Landing, dissolved a few months ago – but several of its members have created a new comedy group called Mad Cowford. They perform on Fridays at Boomtown Theatre on Monroe Street.

• Seven Jacksonville non-profit organizations received a generous holiday gift from the Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation on Monday. The Jewish Family & Community Services, The Pace Center for Girls, North Florida Boy Scouts of America, Second Harvest Food Bank, Gateway Girl Scouts of America, Hubbard House and United Negro College Fund each received a $25,000 check.

• Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville is hosting the annual production “Santaland Diaries” Wednesday and Dec. 19-21 in the museum’s auditorium. The show stars local playwright Ian Mairs as a struggling writer in New York who takes a holiday job as an elf at Macy’s to make extra money.

• The Jacksonville Track Club is looking for board members for next year, and the club has an interesting way of filling its board. If less than 20 people apply, the board seats are automatically filled by current board members. If more than 20 apply, they have an election.

• Speaking of the JTC, board member and longtime race organizer Doug Alred says the 2007 Summer Beach Run may return to September for the first time in many years. Apparently, the tides are not right for an August run. Many years ago, the run was the Labor Day Beach Run before moving to August.

• Cleve E. Warren is the new chairman of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s Board of Directors, succeeding Donald P. Hinson. Warren was appointed to the board by Mayor John Peyton. He is president and CEO of Essential Capital and a former vice president with Barnett Bank of Jacksonville. A.J. Johns is the board’s vice chairman and Donna Harper will remain treasurer. The board’s newest member, attorney Ava L. Parker, will serve as secretary.

• Synovus has selected Axia Public Relations and Marketing to promote the bank’s Remote Express Deposit service. Synovus has more than $31 billion in assets among 40 affiliate banks in the Southeast and was named one of “America’s Most Admired Companies” and one of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For” in America by Fortune magazine.

• Target is the new partner and title sponsor for the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s Family Series. The family program introduces children and families to live symphonic music. The next concert, “Sounds of the Season,” is Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Times-Union Center. Tickets are $7 per person.
