U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown (right) attended this year’s annual holiday open house at City Hall, but she came for more than the sweet treats alone. Brown brought several copies of “If These Chains Could Talk” and donated them to Bonilyn Packham (left) of the City’s Rally Jacksonville! early reading initiative. She also talked about her own literacy initiative, in which she donates computers to children who read 25 books and write a book report. “Vystar Credit Union has donated the computers to me,” said Brown, adding several students have read well over 100 books and have tried to get multiple computers for their effort. “No, they don’t get one for every 25 books they read,” she said. “They ask, though. They are very smart.”
