• Attorney Jeff Morrow is holding a luncheon/fundraiser for gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist Thursday at the Wyndham at noon. The two have known each other for years. They went to law school together.

• The Jacksonville Children’s Commission is looking for help from the City to help fund this summer’s camps. A half-million dollars was budgeted, but the Commission needs another $377,500 to fund the 75 city-wide camps that will service about 3,300 kids. Public school in Duval County ends Thursday, so the Commission is looking to secure the funds quickly.

• Want to surf the Web in Hemming Plaza? Just bring your laptop. Clearwire is providing free Internet service there for the rest of May.

• Some folks from FEMA will be in town June 8 to meet with members of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division to talk about local hurricane preparedness. The meeting’s in the Renaissance Room at City Hall from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

• Two St. Johns County judges are among the 13 in the 7th Judicial Circuit who have drawn no opposition and will spend the next six years on the bench. Six circuit and seven county judges were unopposed. Circuit Court Judges J. Michael Traynor and Wendy W. Berger were unopposed during last week’s qualifying period, according to an announcement from the 7th Circuit.

• Elder law attorney Robert Morgan was in Washington, D.C. last month where he spoke at the “Capital Ideas in Elder Law” symposium hosted by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Morgan is a partner at Ford, Bowlus, Duss, Morgan, Kenney, Safer & Hampton where he’s in charge of the Estate Planning and Elder Law section.
