Twenty-two applications were submitted to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the First District Court of Appeal prior to the Oct. 30 application deadline. Four Jacksonville attorneys applied for the position, including Circuit Court Judge Waddell Wallace and General Master Leatrice Walton. The other local applicants were Harvey Jay III of Saalfield Shad Jay Lucas & Stokes and Scott Makar of the Office of General Counsel.

The Commission welcomes comments from the public regarding the applicants’ qualifications and fitness for judicial office. The commission met via teleconference last Monday to determine the schedule for applicant interviews. Makar’s interview is at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 followed by Wallace at 11 a.m. Jay interviews Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. followed by Walton at 11 a.m.
