• A Springfield home is featured in the latest edition of Christie’s Great Estates. It’s the old Public School No. 24 that has been remodeled into 15 condominium lofts. Despite many upgrades, many older features were retained including walls with paint peeling off and a noticeable lack of closets. There are nine units left.

• The Jaguars are conducting an open National Anthem Contest in conjunction with FM-95.1 and Dave & Busters for the chance to perform at the Dec. 24 game between the Jaguars and the New England Patriots. Singers wanting to compete must drop off a demo CD at Dave & Busters. Twenty semi-finalists will be invited to perform on Oct. 16, 23, 30 and Nov. 6. The winner will be announced Nov. 13. Contest rules and regulations are available at Dave & Busters at JTB and Belfort Road.
• Apparently, Folioweekly’s “Bouquets and Brickbats” section isn’t just talk. Attorney Lynn Drysdale was given a “bouquet” for her consumer law advocacy this week, and a flower arrangement arrived at her office. “I don’t know if they actually send you a brick,” she said.
• Members of the Duval Delegation will discuss issues and concerns affecting seniors at a Legislative Forum seminar for seniors Oct.31 at 10 a.m. in Gentry Hall of the Schultz Center. • A production crew from WJCT Public Television was at Hemming Plaza Thursday taping some new promotional spots for the station. The new campaign is centered around Downtown sights.
• Al fresco all gone-o: The picnic tables the City installed in front of 140 W. Monroe at Hemming Plaza have been removed. One of the store owners in the building complained that having the tables there was hurting her business.
