The City of Jacksonville wants residents to be aware that there are several events in the Downtown area this weekend that may impact pedestrian and vehicular traffic and access to some Downtown streets.
Activities and events are taking place downtown between today and Sunday include the Jacksonville Jazz Festival at Metropolitan Park, The Florida Theatre, and the Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum; Jacksonville Cycling Classic near The Jacksonville Landing; San Marco Spring Fine Arts Show in the San Marco Square; various Disney on Ice performances at the Arena; Jacksonville Suns baseball games at the Baseball Grounds; and the final weekend of The Lion King at the T-U Center for the Performing Arts. Following are the associated street closures and their corresponding times for these events:
Jacksonville Cycling Classic
• Street closures will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday and are expected to last through 11 p.m. Saturday.
• Water Street will be closed, but will allow access for those who need curb service to The Lion King performances.
• Laura Street will be closed, but will allow access for those visiting the Independent Square.
• Bay Street will be closed with the exception of the far right lane traveling westbound.
• Pearl Street will be closed, but will provide access for those parking in the Omni Hotel garage.
San Marco Spring Fine Arts Show
• Street closures will begin at 5 a.m. Saturday and will remain closed until 7 p.m. Sunday.
• Street closures include the intersection of Naldo Avenue and San Marco Boulevard, Balis Place, the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Hendricks Avenue, and the intersection of Hendricks Avenue and San Marco Boulevard.
The Lion King
• Though there are no street closures associated with The Lion King performances, the T-Union Center will be affected by street closures for other events. Allow additional time for arrival and parking.
Jacksonville Jazz Festival
• There are no street closures associated with the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. Trolleys will be running continuously to the following stops:
• Metro Park
• Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum
• Central Stop (Corner of Forsyth and Laura streets)
• The Florida Theatre
