• Mayor John Peyton is making the rounds this week to talk about his proposed budget. He was at the Downtown Rotary Club of Jacksonville Monday, and he will be at the Southside Businessmen’s Club Wednesday, the Mandarin Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Thursday and the Deerwood Rotary Club Friday.

• The Sulzbacher Center’s annual “Transformations” fundraiser at The Florida Theatre is set for Sept. 27. This year’s chairs are Kathy and Jerry Weedon and the honorary chairs are U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw and his wife Kitty.

• Best wishes to former Planning Director Jeannie Fewell. She’s in St. Lukes undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

• Michael Widman, senior staff engineer for Vistakon, has been elected president of the board of directors for Family Support Services of North Florida. Widman will oversee a 20-member board.

• Word from the City of Neptune Beach is the Blockbuster of Atlantic Boulevard is coming down within the next couple of months in order to make room for the Wal-Mart that’s coming to the property.

• The First Tee of Jacksonville is holding a big fundraiser Sept. 17 at Epping Forest Yacht Club. It’s from 5-9 p.m. and tickets are $125. Chefs from several North Florida golf clubs will provide the food. For more info, call 924-0401 or go to www.firstteejacksonville.com.

• The show “12 girls Band” is the next Broadway show coming to Jacksonville’s T-U Center. The show will only be here for one night, Oct. 15. Tickets are between $30.50 and $80.50 and can be purchased by calling 632-3373 or at www.artistseries.fccj.org.
