• Speaking of Stellar, several employees from Stellar will be serving lunch to the center’s guests today starting at 11 a.m.
• Nice touch. County Court Judge Tyrie Boyer sent a letter to Mayor John Peyton thanking him for the invitation to the Mayor’s Holiday Open House that benefited the Sulzbacher Center. Boyer and his wife Betty couldn’t attend, but Boyer told Peyton he’ll make a donation to the center.
• The ongoing dispute between the Clerk of the Court’s Office and the City over fees appears to be over. At one point, the mayor’s office introduced a J-bill in the form of a City Council resolution that, if passed, would have amended the City Charter and removed the Clerk of the Court as the recorder and custodian of official records and collector of funds and transferred those duties to the City. However, a memorandum of understanding between the Clerk and the City was introduced to Council Dec. 11. The MOU contains several items that address the collection of fees and how those fees will be dispersed. In particular, the MOU addresses the “proper collection, accounting for and expenditure of the $1.90 surcharge per court filing for the Public Records Modernization Trust Fund.”
• The sale of The McCormick Agency to the Dalton Agency hasn’t been finalized, but Dalton VP Michael Munz said the deal is still in the works. Munz said he, Paul McCormick and Jim Dalton are meeting in the first couple of weeks of January to discuss the sale. “We are still interested,” said Munz, adding his firm’s move to Hemming Plaza from the Wachovia building on the Southbank has been a primary focus.
