Beth Fleet, candidate and records director for the Supervisor of Elections Office, administered the candidate’s oath Tuesday morning to Jackie Brown, who has qualified to run for mayor. Brown was joined by Mildred Smith-Kidd, a governmental consultant from Tallahassee who was a field director for 2006 Florida gubernatorial candidate Jim Davis’ campaign. When Brown submitted her $12,961.73 filing fee, she commented, “I had to work hard to get this money.” She said she wants to eliminate “a very tight-knit good-old-boy system” and “bring the government back to the people.” For more, see 'Qualifying ends...' article.
