It has been many years since a horse hitched to a buggy under a tree has been a regular sight on Bay Street, but that was just the order of business Friday morning when the Jacksonville Historical Society hosted a celebration on the 185 anniversary of the founding of the city. The guests heard a proclamation from the mayor commemorating the day and had cake, roasted peanuts and sasparilla near the spot where Jacksonville went from settlement to city.
