Boys & Girls Clubs welcome new board members, staff

Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida (BGCNF) has named David Bird, Larry McCall, Paul McCormick and Allyson Meyers to the 2007-08 Board of Governors. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida has also added Barbara Borowski to the administrative staff.

Bird graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration. Bird joined American Heritage Life (AHL) in 1983 as a regional sales manager in Nashville. In 1994, he was promoted to senior vice president of Workplace Sales and relocated to AHL’s corporate headquarters in Jacksonville. In 1999, AHL was acquired by the Allstate Corporation and changed its name to Allstate Workplace Division. Bird was named president in 2002.

McCall is a native of Jacksonville and a graduate of the University of North Florida. McCall joined the start-up team for AT&T Universal Card in 1990. In 1998, the company became part of Citigroup’s Citi Cards division and McCall was promoted to director of customer service paper. In 2003, he became senior director.

McCormick is the founder of The McCormick Agency, a Jacksonville-based, full-service public relations agency. A graduate of St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., McCormick earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

Meyers holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Buffalo. With 22 years experience in the broadcasting industry, Meyers was named VP/General Manager at Ch. 17 in February. Prior to that, Meyers was the general sales manager for WSFL-TV, a Tribune Broadcasting station in Miami, Florida.

Borowski is a new member of the BGCNF’s administrative team. As a certified professional in human resources, Borowski will manage and administer human resource functions for the organization. Prior to joining the BGCNF, Borowski worked for the MPS Group and AT&T.
