The Up & Cummers, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens’ young professional group, will host “Fashion Forward: Big Apple” on Sept. 21 at the museum.
The theme for the Up & Cummers’ third fashion show is based on the “Joseph Jeffers Dodge: A Passion for Art” exhibition being held at the museum Oct. 9-February 2008. This exhibition will provide insights about Dodge’s development as a painter and the passion that inspired him – jazz (particularly the music of Duke Ellington and his orchestra), the female figure, still life, landscape and travel.
“Our third annual fashion show will showcase American fashion presented by our featured designer, Love Brigade, based out of New York City, and local area boutiques,” said Anjna Chauhan, president of Up & Cummers. “The Up & Cummers are excited to host another successful event at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and we are enthusiastic that the show will unite the museum with the Jacksonville community of young professionals.”
Two fashion shows, each 30 minutes, will emphasize New York inspired fall fashions from Jacksonville area boutiques and Love Brigade.
Currently, participating boutiques and restaurants include: Aurathai, The Beauty Bar, Belk, Biscotti’s, Brick, Carla’s Shoes, Casbah, Cecil Vignutti, Dirty Blonde, Mossfire Grill, Olive, Petal, Preservation Chophouse, Reve, Rosie True, and Wardrobe Therapy.
Food served in the VIP reception prior to the fashion show will feature complimentary wine, hookahs, a belly dancer and delectable cuisine by local area restaurants featuring the different flavors of New York, including Little Italy, Chinatown, and many more.
Tickets are $35 for general admission with an Up & Cummers membership, $50 for VIP reception (reserved for Up & Cummers only), $45 for general admission without an Up & Cummers membership and $110 for a membership to Up & Cummers and one ticket to the VIP reception.
