• It’s been a long time coming, but attorney Howard Coker will be recognized at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. Coker was named the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Florida Board of Trial Advocates and Lawyer of the Year by the Financial News & Daily Record.
• Downtown Vision Inc. is officially on record as supporting the new County Courthouse. In a letter to Council President Daniel Davis, DVI Executive Director Terry Lorince said DVI supports the project for a few reasons, which include the major influx of workers into the Downtown core. Lorince did say, however, DVI will not take any position on the financing of the facility.
• Speaking of taking a position, the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission is officially against Council member Art Shad’s ordinance that would allow JTA to place advertising on its 450 bus shelters. According to the Commission’s chair Anna Dooley, “the public is not served by this ordinance.”
• David Anderson was promoted from associate to partner at Cole, Stone, Stoudemire & Morgan. Anderson practices in areas of personal injury litigation, focusing primarily on defending claims of automobile and trucking negligence and premises and products liability. He currently serves as president of the Jacksonville Association of Defense Counsel.
