At tonight’s second meeting under president Ronnie Fussell, dozens of new resolutions and ordinances covering an array of topics will be introduced.

Among those is a resolution that will mark the 40th anniversary of consolidation and declare Oct. 1 as Consolidation Day. A spokesperson for the mayor’s office said there is an event planned for the day, but nothing has been finalized yet.

Also on the agenda, four members of the Downtown Development Review Board are up for reappointment. Chair Roland Udenze and Rose Zurawski, Jonathan Garza and Christopher Flagg are up for terms that will expire June 30, 2010. All of the appointments are full first terms since the DDRB is a spin-off of the former Downtown Review Committee.

Another appointment of note is that of Marty Senterfitt as chief of the City’s Emergency Preparedness Division. Senterfitt, who succeeded the retired Lorin Mock, has been on the job for several weeks, but the Council-approved appointment will make it official.

Council will also address a bill sponsored by Council members Clay Yarborough and Glorious Johnson. The bill looks to amend a section of the City’s ordinance code that covers where candidates can campaign. The issue came to light recently when a citizen questioned City officials as to why none of the candidates for office had been by a senior citizens center in Arlington. The amended ordinance will permit campaigning at both senior citizens and community centers.

In other items:

• BP Corp. plans to donate $10,000 to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to purchase alcohol foam to help fight ethanol fuel fires.

• Cleve Warren is up for reappointment to JTA’s board of directors. His second full term will end May 30, 2012.

• The Office of General Counsel is looking to retain the law firm of Tanner Bishop as special counsel. The firm will represent the City in an attorneys fee dispute and insurance coverage claims in the toxic ash site litigation.

• The Florida Department of Transportation may spend $550,000 for design and construction work on a water taxi station at Alamacani Boat Ramp. The boat ramp is the result of a feasibility study done on river water taxi stations on the Fort George River.
