Two Jacksonville judges and three area attorneys have applied to fill one of the two vacancies that will come up on the Florida Supreme Court over the next several months. Justices Raoul Cantero and Ken Bell are resigning.
Cantero’s seat is an at-large seat while those seeking Bell’s seat must live in the state’s First District Court of Appeals, which includes Duval and Clay counties.
All of the Jacksonville applicants have applied for both vacancies. They include Circuit Court Judge Waddell Wallace, County Court Judge Pauline Drayton, State Solicitor General Scott Makar and attorney Tom Slater of Pajcic & Pajcic and Stephen Durden of Florida Coastal School of Law.
