Smith Hulsey & Busey attorney Jeanne Helton has been chosen to chair The Florida Bar’s Health Law Section for 2008-09. Helton, a partner with the firm, will be inducted at The Florida Bar’s annual meeting June 19 in Boca Raton.

“Jeanne’s being selected for this leadership role is a significant honor,” said Steve Busey, Smith Hulsey & Busey chairman. “Jeanne’s appointment demonstrates the strength of her reputation within the health law community and the respect she has earned from her peers.”

Organized in 1988, the Health Law Section of the Bar — which has 1,400 members — provides a forum for education to improve and develop the health law field in Florida. The section also serves the bar and the public in interpreting health care laws, including federal, state or local laws, rules and regulations regarding the delivery of health care services.

Helton, who received her law degree from the University of Florida in 1985, aims to grow the Health Law Section’s membership by promoting its benefits to health care attorneys in Florida.

“The Health Law Section is a tremendous resource for health care attorneys,” said Helton. “By participating in the section, you can enhance your practice of health law, build your skills and knowledge, keep abreast of regulatory changes and important legal decisions, all to enhance the value we provide to our health care clients.”
