• Tuesday’s City Council meeting was the last for President Daniel Davis and the last for a while. There aren’t any meetings scheduled until July 14. No word on who will meet that day, though. Council President-elect Ronnie Fussell hasn’t appointed his Council standing committee chairs and he has the discretion to change the meeting schedule.

• Correction and clarification: In a Tuesday story about upcoming Fourth of July events, it was noted that ice skating admission at Veteran’s Memorial Arena was $2. • Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band added seven dates to its 2007-08 tour and the first of the new dates is scheduled for Aug. 15 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Boss’ endorsement of Barack Obama may endear him to Duval County’s almost 218,000 registered Democrats.

• TRC Staffing Services will move its Baymeadows Road office Downtown as of Aug. 1. It will occupy an office on the 16th floor of the BB&T Building. The company has been supplying temporary and permanent staffing since 1980 in fields ranging from accounting to warehouse help. TRC has been at the Baymeadows location for 20 of its 28 years in business.

• The Jacksonville Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants was the fifth best chapter in the country and received its reward at the 89th Annual IMA Conference in Tampa last Friday. There are about 300 chapters nationwide. Chapters improve their ranking through membership growth, the number of events hosted and number of certified management accountants in its chapter.
