Regina Duncan, president of the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce visited with the Amelia Island/Nassau County Association of Realtors at the Yulee High School last month to talk about the Chamber and how it affects the community they work in.

“Your Chamber of Commerce is 900 businesses strong,” said Duncan. “It is very strong and very active. Your Chamber of Commerce serves, promotes and protects.”

The Chamber has 13 staff members and five departments including tourism, events, programs, membership retention and communications.

“We offer specific business information and are a resource for businesses,” said Duncan. “We reach tourists, residents and businesses.”

The Chamber also has a new Web site, www.islandchamber.com that is targeted towards businesses, tourism and residents.

“We felt that we needed to have something that was all things to all people,” said Duncan. “We watched the statistics almost hourly when we launched it, because we want to see what people were doing. Even more than we thought, the live and work part is popular.

“Job postings, real estate and rentals are the top five of what people are searching for on the new site. We are hearing from the tourists and the residents what else they want on the site and are working to add it.”
