Hundreds of Florida Coastal School of Law first-year students and a combination of almost 50 law firms and legal employers flooded Florida Coastal School of Law’s main atrium Thursday as part of the school’s “Starting Line” reception. Now in its third year, organizers from Coastal Law’s Career Services Department said the event continues to outpace expectations.
Starting Line provides Jacksonville’s legal professionals with an opportunity to meet with and give career advice to Florida Coastal students.
“We’re absolutely delighted with, not only the fabulous turnout, but also the overwhelming enthusiasm from both the students and the employers,” said Ellen Sefton, Coastal Law director of Career Services. “Students who take the opportunity to learn from and ask questions of the seasoned legal professionals found at Starting Line can potentially get on the right track towards successful careers from the very start of the legal education.”
Jake Peek of Driver, McAfee, Griggs & Peek agreed.
“We participate in this event every year,” he said. “It’s great to know students are interested in knowing about the practice and the life of a typical lawyer.”
