• City of Jacksonville Ethics Officer Carla Miller recently attended the 13th International Anti Corruption Conference in Greece. It was held from Oct. 30 -Nov. 2. More than 1300 people attended from 135 countries. Participants were from private, public and nonprofit sectors.
• Michael L. Duncan has joined the firm of Volpe, Bajalia, Wickes, Rogerson & Wachs as a shareholder and will continue his practice in commercial litigation, business litigation and consumer finance litigation. Michael D. Lee has also become a shareholder with the firm and will continue his practice in commercial litigation. Jerry Lee Hanbery has also joined as an associate and will practice in the business and commercial litigation groups.
• “Salt,” the restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, will be featured Monday at 8 p.m. in an episode of the History Channel’s “Modern Marvels.” The program includes an examination of the history of the most common table seasoning and its emergence as a current trend in haute cuisine “This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the restaurant as a leader in the growing salt trend, “said Richard Gras, Ritz-Carlton chef de cuisine.
• Correction: The investiture ceremony for Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge-Elect Adrian Soud will be held on Feb. 22, not on Jan. 15 as previously reported.
• The next Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Lecture Series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 2. The next lecture, “Contemporary Photography: The Seaside Series,” features discussion between artist Jay Shoots and Cummer Museum Director Maarten van de Guchte, with topics yet to be decided. • Correction: The Donna Foundation was founded in 2003 and the foundation disburses funds directly to the billing organization not to recipients of aid from the foundation.
• He may be a former State Representative, but Dick Kravitz is still staying politically active. He was recently appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist to the Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises (PRIDE) board of directors. The nonprofit prisoner training company operates general manufacturing and service facilities throughout Florida and provides job placement for ex-offenders.
• The Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex, a newly combined 100,000-square-foot sports and meeting space off Phillips Highway, is open for business. The land combines the existing ice rink, formerly Jacksonville Ice, with the Metro Square Office Park and offers sports programming – including continued hockey and figure skating – with space suited for corporate or private functions.
