• Holiday health care: The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce is honoring health care institutions across North Florida Dec. 16 with a reception at Epping Forest Yacht Club.
• Advance notice: The St. Johns Water Management District is having public hearings to adopt tentative millage rates and a budget for fiscal year 2009–10 Sept. 8, with final millage rate and budget hearing Sept. 22. Both will be at the District Headquarters in Palatka. The reason for such advance notice? The management district covers 18-counties, which can cause scheduling conflicts with the public, according to a memo.
• The Office of Special Events is putting out a holiday guide titled “Celebrate the Holidays! Celebrate Downtown!” published by the City of Jacksonville. The guide is a reference to Downtown holiday events taking place until early January and it comes out this afternoon. To get a copy, call the office at 630-3690.
• The Festival of Trees at World Golf Village will officially open Dec. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony with Melina Bergbom, campaign chair of United Way in St. Johns County, Derek May, publisher of The St. Augustine Record and Mark Schwantner, general manager of the Renaissance Resort and St. Johns County Convention Center.
