From tips on “going green” to carpet cleaning and restoration, the Jacksonville Home & Patio Show at the Osborn Convention Center has announced its presence for the weekend.

And there were some interesting exhibits.

For starters, there was the “Living Green” exhibit put on by renovation specialist Steven Whittle who took the opportunity to show people how easy it is to live “green.”

“There are two ways to live green,” said Whittle. “You can live for today or tomorrow. Anything that costs more than $100 to do should be living for tomorrow, meaning you’ll be saving for it.”

Whittle also added that the way that he explains the going green lifestyle to people is through using things that they are familiar with, like time and money.

Also on hand at the show were LInda Gambalbo and Shirley Moskowitz, representing Innovative Nursing, Inc. out of Orlando. What were they offering? Flu shots.

“Our company has been doing this for years,” said Gambalbo. “I’m the marketer while Shirley (Moskowitz) is the nurse.”

The two were on hand to talk about the company that started in 1994 to give the community a new approach to full service home health and pharmacy. They were also offering flu ($30), pneumonia ($52) and tetanus ($45) shots to any Medicare customers.

Also among the exhibitors was the local dog fence company Invisible Fence. Michael Gassman was the exhibitor for the company that is located off of Sunbeam Road.

“Things are pretty steady around here,” said Gassman of the crowds on the first day of the show. “There’s always a need for (the dog fence) market because people have pets.”

Gassman explained that the fence is underground and that pets will receive a beeping signal telling them that they are “about to hit a wall.”

“And if they go into it, they’re going to feel it just like a wall,” said Gassman.

Doors open from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Doors close 9 p.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Regular admission into the show is $9 with children six to 18 getting in for $5. Order tickets online and save $2 instantly. For more information, go to www.jacksonvillehomeshows.com.
