The London Bridge English Pub and Eatery has been on the corner of East Adams Street for six years and has built quite a reputation among the Downtown community, as well as a loyal customer base. Kelly Crowell, a manager at London Bridge, knows one reason is the pub’s laid-back atmosphere.
“We’re on a first name basis with most of our customers,” Crowell says. “It’s like a ‘Cheers’ environment over here. We have fun with them.”
She says the “regulars” even invite her and the other employees to birthday parties and other events.
But more importantly, Crowell says all the employees at the pub are like a family.
“We’re all really close,” she says. “Two employees live together, one lives upstairs and another lives right down the street. So we all hang out.”
Tonight, the London Bridge family is throwing the “Jax D.I.Y. Revival Food Drive” to benefit the Clara White Mission and bring the Downtown community even closer.
“We do have our regular customers but we also have people who don’t even know we’re here,” Crowell says.
She believes the event will help change that for the pub and at the same time, help others in need.
The JAX D.I.Y Revival Food Drive is from 5 p.m.-2 a.m. There is a minimum donation fee of $2 or you can bring three canned goods.
The event will include three disc jockeys, 14 bands and local art.
