Congratulations to The Ivy Ultra Bar! Saturday marks the bar’s one-year anniversary Downtown. Lee Spell, the bar’s president, is thrilled with the success of the business thus far.
“Eighty-five percent of bar businesses fail within the first year,” Spell says. “I believe we’ve survived because either the other owners or I are always in the building. If someone needs something, we are here to deal directly. We make sure our guests are okay at all times even if it’s something as simple as calling a cab.”
Spell feels the bar offers something the other bars don’t in the Downtown community.
“We’re unique in the fact that we can basically transfer to anything if need be,” he says.
One could go into The Ivy Ultra Bar on a Saturday night and experience a nightclub-like vibe. Music is pumping and the crowd, excited and socializing. But visit the bar after work and it’s much more laid-back and quiet — a great place to unwind with a drink after a long day.
“There’s really not a function that we can’t fill,” Spell says.
Spell believes that particular quality gives the bar potential to last for many years to come.
“We didn’t want to be this big club and only last for two years,” he says. “We want to still be here in 10 or 15 years.
So what does the future have in store for the bar?
“I want to continue to improve so that eventually we can open another bar Downtown,” he says.
Congratulations to The Ivy Ultra Bar, a success so far with more success to come!
