• The mayor’s office has issued its annual report on the City’s anti-littering activities. According to the report — which is a requirement of a 2004 Ordinance that adopted a “zero-tolerance policy for litter on public property” — from April 1 of last year to March 31, the City collected 26,337 bags of litter. Also, JSO inmates provided 407 man hours and picked up 4,220 pounds of litter. On the enforcement side, JSO issued 305 litter citations.

• Vestcor is hosting its annual 5K Bridge Run July 18. The race starts in Hemming Plaza at 7:30 and crosses both the Main Street and Acosta bridges and finish on Duval Street in front of City Hall. Runners’ entry fees go to local nonprofits.

• The Northeast Florida Area Local No. 138 American Postal Workers Union is on record as opposed to the proposed closure or consolidation of two area postal facilities. According to local union president Doris Orr-Richardson, two local facilities — the Cecil Field Branch and the Airport Mail Facility — are both on the list for closure or consolidation.

• The new Holiday Inn Express & Suites on Mayport Road is open. There’s a second Beaches location on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach.
