The Florida Bar Board of Governors at the Bar’s annual meeting appointed Hank Coxe of the Bedell Firm to a two-year term in the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates.

Jake Schickel of Coker Schickel Sorenson & Posgay earned another year as a member of the Florida Bar’s Executive Committee, this time as chair of the Budget Committee.

The Board of Governors has also selected three of its members — Greg Coleman, David Prather, and Gwynn Young — to serve on the Bar’s Executive Committee for the 2009-10 Bar year.

The governors chose the three at their May 29 meeting, completing the makeup of the committee, which is empowered to act for the board between its bimonthly meetings.

Before the board made its selections, incoming Bar President Jesse Diner announced his two appointments for the committee. They are board members Eugene Pettis and David Rothman.

Automatic committee members for the coming year are Diner, incoming President-elect Mayanne Downs, Young Lawyers Division incoming President R.J. Haughey, Communications Committee Chair Juliet Roulhac and Legislation Committee Chair Larry Sellers.

The board also made several other nominations and appointments at the meeting:

• The board nominated Gerald Kogan of Coral Gables, Lawrence P. Kuvin of Wilton Manors, Daryl Manning of Tampa, Richard A. Moore of Miami, T. Rankin Terry, Jr., of Ft. Myers, and Gary Winston of Miami for two vacancies on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. The Supreme Court will make the final appointment.

• The board appointed Edith Osman of Miami to a two-year term in the ABA House of Delegates. Immediate past Florida Bar President Jay White and President-elect Mayanne Downs will be automatic members of the House of Delegates.

• The board appointed William J. Banks of Clearwater, Matthew Gissen of Miami, William F. Sansone of Tampa, Allen von Spiegelfeld of Tampa, and Barbara J. Williams of Orlando for three-year terms on the Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc., Board of Directors.

• The board appointed Christie Anne Darias Daniels of Miami, Dolly V. Davis of Jupiter, William Manikas of Boynton Beach, Theodore W. Small, Jr., of Deland, Eric M. Sodhi of Miami, and Daniel H. Thompson of Tallahassee to two-year terms on the Florida Legal Services, Inc., Board of Directors.
