“Cruising to Success: How to Excel as a Leader and Keep Your Bar Afloat” is the title of the conference designed to help voluntary bar leaders network and develop new ideas to take back to their organizations.
The purpose of the Annual Voluntary Bar Leaders Conference is to orient new bar leaders to the operations of The Florida Bar and the ABA and additionally learn of the available resources of The Florida Bar and the ABA staff; to allow bar leaders to network with other leaders throughout the state; to offer workshops and seminars for voluntary bar officers and directors to assist in their operation and program development; and to motivate bar leaders.
This year’s program will feature topics such as, a presentation on the state of the economy and discussion on how the economy is affecting members, social networking, tax issues for voluntary bar organizations, negotiating contracts with hotels, “PR for your Local Bar — How to Promote Your Bar in a Minute or Less,” issues affecting non-staffed bar associations and how to recession proof your association.
The conference will begin with a working lunch July 24 at the Hyatt Regency Tampa, followed by the keynote address and panel discussions throughout the afternoon and a dinner reception that night at the Hillsborough County Bar Association. It will continue July 25 with a buffet breakfast in the morning, followed by general sessions and panel discussions from speakers until the conference ends at noon.
Attendees will earn 6 hours of CLE credit for attending the general sessions and panel discussions.
