After more than 30 years as publisher of the Daily Record, Jim Bailey (left) knows a thing or two about Jacksonville’s happenings – both good and bad. But, it’s the negativity outside the community that draws his ire at times.

“I have a passion for Jacksonville and its future,” said Bailey, adding that he was miffed by criticism the city receives from outsiders that “don’t know us.”

Bailey, spoke to Meninak members and its President-Elect Kent Lindsey (right) Monday on the community pride he sees daily, Jacksonville’s inherent advantages for business and living and the steps needed – through leadership and teamwork – to overcome economic and community challenges.

“We (Meninak members and he) care about the City of Jacksonville,” said Bailey. “We want to make it so our children and grandchildren will never want to or have to live anywhere else.”
