The next time you attend a show at the Florida Theatre, you’ll be walking on new floor covering, even though it won’t be that obvious. The final element of the latest phase of the ongoing preservation of the historic venue is the replacement of 1,600 square yards of carpet. The new 80 percent wool carpet was custom woven at a mill in Pennsylvania and matches the material and pattern that was installed in 1994. “It was crazy expensive but the first carpet lasted 15 years. We hope this does too,” commented Florida Theatre executive Director Erik Hart.
