Assistant to the Tax Collector Ryan Taylor presented himself at the Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office Wednesday afternoon to make official his candidacy for the office of tax collector. For the past 11 years Taylor has worked for Mike Hogan, who is leaving the tax collector post to run for mayor. Taylor said his grandfather was the head of Jacksonville’s Tax Department for 34 years until his retirement in 1994. Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said Taylor opening a campaign account makes 15 candidates who have so far filed for offices that will be on the 2011 ballot: 10 for mayor, three for City Council seats, one for sheriff and one for tax collector.
