• The Chamber itself has been supportive of “Touchdown Jacksonville — Revive the Pride” ticket selling campaign, but now the Chamber’s eight individual Councils are getting in on the action with a little friendly competition. All eight are in competition with each other to sell the most tickets for the Dec. 17 Colts game, each with their own method, such as Arlington Council selling tickets at Jacksonville University, Information Technology Council using social media and Mandarin using a chili cook-off as a sales venue.

• Speaking of the Colts game, the Duval County Public School schedule may help attendance. Dec. 17-22 have been designated “weather days” which means no school. Winter Break officially starts Dec. 23.

• The Sulzbacher Center will host a traditional Thanksgiving feast Thursday for hundreds of hungry men, women, and children. Volunteers will serve roasted turkey with gravy, dressing, roasted sweet potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, fresh rolls and assorted pies. The special holiday meal was made possible by generous donations from the community: The Soha Family sponsored the cost of the meal, Fidelity National Financial donated pies and volunteers as well as children living at the Sulzbacher Center have created centerpieces for the tables.

• Over 200 University of North Florida students danced for 18 hours over the weekend and raised more than $16,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network of Jacksonville and Brunswick.

• City Council member Denise Lee is sponsoring a bill that would alter the public comment portion of a Council meeting. The bill, if passed, would allow people to transfer a portion or all three minutes of their allotted time. It would also add another public comment period to the end of the Council meetings.
