For the past 14 years, Benjamin Purdy has been entertaining people Downtown with his saxophone. He usually performs near the Landing, often under the Main Street Bridge, but lately Purdy has been taking his act to the streets. One day last week he was standing on Laura Street between Adams and Forsyth streets playing a selection of holiday tunes for people passing by on the sidewalk. Many dropped a few coins or even a $1 bill into the hat he keeps at his feet. Purdy said it’s difficult to find a job since he became disabled and added, “I’ve got to eat, I love to play my horn and people like that I’m doing it.”
