Kris Kiger, owner of Northstar Substation on East Bay Street, Monday afternoon made what he estimated was his 10,000th pizza since he opened the restaurant 50 weeks ago. Kiger is celebrating the one-year anniversary with two weeks of “customer appreciation days” now through Oct. 25. During lunch, he’s selling pizza slices for $1 or two slices and a soft drink for $3. Kiger also put some of his most popular 6-inch sub sandwiches and chicken wings on special for $5 including a bag of chips and a soft drink.

“I’ve met a lot of people and made a lot of new friends in the past year. It has also been a learning experience because this is the first time I have ever owned and operated a restaurant. I’m proud to say we have made forward progress despite the economy,” said Kiger.
