The Southern Women’s Show opens its doors today for the 22nd time in Jacksonville. More than 300 vendors have filled the Osborn Center with what Assistant Show Manager Elisha Jernigan (left) called, “Anything that appeals to women.” That includes products, services and even two fashion shows with models from the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department.

Belk and Dillard’s have set up mini department stores and the weekend schedule includes cooking demonstrations by Winn-Dixie’s Chef Robert Tulko and several local restaurateurs. Bob Greene, Oprah Winfrey’s personal trainer, will present healthy lifestyle tips.

Jernigan was quick to point out that in addition to the cooking demonstrations and gourmet food samples, there is also a booth sponsored by Jacksonville Greyhound Racing’s Poker Room that will offer Texas Hold ‘Em lessons taught by expert players.

“A lot of women bring their husbands and boyfriends to the show. We have things for the guys too,” she said.
