• It’s hard to believe, but even in this economy Gov. Charlie Crist’s net worth has gone up. According to Florida Trend magazine, he’s worth $466,063, that’s up 2 percent from last year. Who’s worth the most in his cabinet? Try CFO Alex Sink at $8.6 million, which is actually down 15 percent since 2007.

• Of the state’s two Senators, Bill Nelson is worth the most at $6.4 million, 38th among all 100 Senators. Mel Martinez, who has announced he’s stepping down, is worth $2.5 million.

• Millennium Specialty Chemicals on Crestwood Street has decided to trim its workforce. Effective Oct. 31, the company will permanently lay off 15 people.

• City Council will be officially informed tonight that School Member Stan Jordan’s resignation will become effective Oct. 6. Jordan is running for the State Senate left vacant when State. Sen. Jim King passed away earlier this summer.

• Speaking of Council, it will recognize Linda Whipple as paralegal of the year. Council member Warren Jones is sponsoring the legislation.

• Condolences to the family of Circuit Court Judge Peter Fryefield, who passed away Saturday.
