• The Charter Revision Commission meets Thursday morning in Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. and is open to the public. The agenda includes issues related to the City’s independent authorities and several presentations will be made on the subject.
• If you are over 50 years old, the City’s Senior Games may be a good way to see how you stack up against your peers in such events as bowling, swimming, cycling and several others. • Fashion shows generally have models strutting the catwalk but Saturday there will be a show that does it for the cats — and other animals of the Jacksonville Humane Society. “Rescues and Runways,” a national series of charity fashion shows and silent auctions to benefit animal shelters across the country, will be hosted by the local clothier Maurice’s Saturday from 11 a.m.–1 p.m at its Beach Boulevard location. • The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office brought back its 1980s “Beat the Heat” anti-street racing program several months ago, complete with a racetrack-certified 1979 Chevy Malibu, but it — and other programs — will now have a new addition. Subaru of Jacksonville donated a Subaru WRX STI to the Fraternal Order of Police yesterday during its 11th Annual Sheriffs Cup Charity Tournament, with the FOP to utilize the car for special events.
