• There is some good news regarding local foreclosures. According to real estate market consultant Ray Rodriguez, filings for the first quarter are down throughout Northeast Florida. They were down 25 percent in Clay County, 19 percent in Duval, 9 percent in St. Johns and 6 percent in Nassau. Overall, though, there were still 4,157 filings in the four counties the first three months of the year.
• The South Jacksonville Republican Club plans an old-fashioned rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 10 at 10029 San Jose Blvd., at Crown Point Road. It’s in the shopping center next to Domino’s Pizza. It’ll include the usual, including that rummage sale standby, bric-a-brac.
• Greenscape of Jacksonville will celebrate its 35th anniversary at 11:30 a.m. April 13 with a ribbon-cutting at Greenscape Celebration Park, 801 LaSalle St. Mayor John Peyton and City Council member Art Shad are scheduled to attend. The nonprofit organization educates people on the importance of trees to the health and economic well-being of the community.
