A week that featured two successful naming-rights deals culminated Friday with what Jaguars fans hope will be the beginning of more success on the field for the 2010 season.
Before a sizable crowd braving near 100-degree heat, the team hit the newly sponsored Florida Blue Health & Wellness Practice Fields for the first day of training camp Friday morning.
While the team practiced, fans were able to meet members of the Roar, shop for their favorite Jaguars wares and look into purchasing season tickets before the team’s first home preseason game Aug. 21 against Miami.
While the heat had many fans seeking shade, others like Nathan Garganta were posted front and center along the fence to catch a closer glimpse of the team.
“It’s not my first time out here,” said Garganta. “Every year I get more excited and just more into it.”
The team’s weekend training camp sessions were open to the public, as are the sessions through Thursday. After that, the next time fans will be able to watch the Jaguars in action will be the mock game inside EverBank Field that’s open only to season ticket holders.
For more information about the training camp sessions, see the Daily Record’s calendar on this page or visit www.jaguars.com.

Jaguars quarterback David Garrard wasn’t the only Garrard in training during Friday’s morning session. While the longtime signal caller was on the practice fields, his son Justin was on the sidelines hitting the bags.
Just outside the gates of the Florida Blue Health & Wellness Practice Fields, fans were greeted to the start of training camp.
There were plenty of Jaguars-related wares available for fans during training camp. Kristina McClellany helps Nancy Schmidt and two young Maurice Jones-Drew fans make a purchase under the shady merchandise tents.
