Darren Dailey, Artistic and Executive Director, Jacksonville Children’s Chorus
Mission
The mission of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is to provide a high-quality choral music education for children of diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride while filling an important cultural need in the community and sharing the beauty of the choral art form through artistically excellent performances.
Serving Jacksonville
Since 1991.
Those served
Students in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties.
Biggest challenge
Managing the growth of the organization.
Biggest satisfaction
Knowing that through singing in a choir, children develop lifelong artistic activity and skills, such as teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride, that will serve them throughout their lives is the biggest satisfaction because it will not only have a positive effect on their lives, but on the community as a whole.
Chorus America conducted a Chorus Impact Study in 2009, which found that people who sing in choruses demonstrate characteristics that make them good citizens, including volunteerism, philanthropy, leadership and participation in the political process.
