• Saturday was a good day to be near the computer or the phone as rain blanketed the area. Those Jimmy Buffett fans near either one Saturday had a small window to get tickets for the performers’ Feb. 20 Jacksonville stop, as tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. and sold out by about 10:30 a.m. Downhearted Parrotheads can still gain entry, but ticket resellers are offering tickets starting at $150 for the Jacksonville show.
• Today is Rachel Nudge’s last day as public relations director at the Landing. She’s beginning a new career as an analyst relations manager with Fidelity National Information Services. No word yet on Nudge’s successor.
• The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting “Chamber & Eggs” a complimentary breakfast for members in honor of new members. • Ribault Middle School eighth-grader Kiana Goodall will once again be attending the county spelling bee after having been a participant as a fifth, sixth and seventh-grader. Also returning is James Weldon Johnson seventh-grader Ashley Barron, who was last year’s second-place winner and two years ago won the county bee. The winner of the Duval County Spelling Bee will compete against other regional winners at the Regional Spelling Bee Feb. 20 at the Main Library. The winner of the regional bee will compete in the national spelling bee, scheduled at the end of May in Washington, D.C. Jill Lively, a teacher from Mandarin Oaks Elementary, is serving as the spelling bee coordinator.
