• Attorney Ann Bittinger has been appointed chair of the Physician Organizations Practice Group for the American Health Lawyers Association. As the nation’s largest organization devoted to legal issues with more than 10,000 members, Bittinger will lead a group of more than 800 people.
• The officially tally from the Edwards and Ragatz “Law Day in May” celebration, which was part of area “Law Day” events, was $5,260 raised for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. The inaugural event was created to provide both a social and charitable event for the legal community during “Law Day” festivities and was held May 6 in the lobby of the EverBank Building, where the law firm maintains offices, in Riverside.
• Marks Gray shareholder Edward Birk was elected to the executive council of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, an international association of attorneys representing defendants in civil litigation. Birk joined the firm in 1999 and practices in liability defense, employment law and First Amendment and media law.
