The Jacksonville Urban League installed officers and new board members at its Centennial Annual meeting June 17 at the Ritz Theater & LaVilla Museum. It also recognized volunteers and released its annual report.
The Centennial Annual meeting is one of several events during the National Urban League’s 100th year of service. Richard Danford, president of the Jacksonville Urban League, talked about the importance of investing in the Urban League to help sustain the 63-year-old Jacksonville organization. The Jacksonville Urban League assists more than 20,000 people a year through education, employment and economic programs and services.

Officers for 2010-11 are Chair Michael Wilkes; Vice Chair Gregory Perrine; Treasurer Edwin Kiker Jr.; Assistant Treasurer Ramon George; Secretary Lynn Sherman; and Chaplain Rev. Charlie McClendon.

The Jacksonville Urban League is a nonprofit that focuses on education, employment and training, and economic and community empowerment. Its mission is to assist African Americans and others achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights.
